4 THE WOLVERINE ❱ NOVEMBER 2026 BO SHOWED THE WAY FOR SUPPORT Oftentimes in life things do not go as one had hoped as the journey is full of uncertainty. We Michigan football fans have experienced that harsh reality during this 2026 season. Following the unexpected 0-2 record in Big Ten play, a reset of expectations was in order. That is true. But the amount of negativity heaped upon our coaches and players seemed a bit much. I've heard the griping, complaining and anger over this rough start and, admittedly, we are all disappointed. It seems to have become human nature to point fingers and assign blame when losing. But this is not productive. What happened to the time-hon- ored Michigan credo provided by Bo Schembechler? In his The Team speech he preaches, "We're gonna believe in each other. We're not gonna criticize each other. We're not gonna talk about each other. We're gonna encourage each other." A firm reminder that support and be- lief create the positivism necessary to survive in life. And win football games! The proper way to accomplish a turn- around in our fortunes rests with those same players and coaching staff. They know what has to be done and will work harder to make their dedicated fanbase happy. The current wrath shown toward them is unnecessary. Maintaining the proper attitude is a key component to success in life. When times are tough, more support than ever is needed. Why not choose the posi- tive route? Complaining will get you nowhere. Always remember, it is great to be a Michigan Wolverine! Ed McArdle Saginaw, Mich. WOULD MOVE TO CARR HELP? For all of this talk about not wanting to expose a true freshman QB with a bad line, was anyone worried about a true freshman Chad Henne starting against Miami of Ohio in 2004 after Guttierez was hurt? I think this bedwetting is a bit excessive. If he (Tommy Carr) gives you the best chance long term, go with him. The main things according to KW that Underwood has going for him are his physical skill set, and his 18 starts. But at least half of those starts have been really crappy. I feel like at this point they are finding reasons to stick with a sink- ing ship (Underwood). The rhino itself is a problem, but Beck's play calling has been as well. I went back and watched the Minnesota game highlights. I actu- ally saw a play where we had 4 receivers on the field. I just feel like we are going to be in for more of the same. Same crappy play calling, same crappy offensive forma- tions. Same QB who can run well and hit passes on the run, but still can't read a defense to save his life. Why are we doing this? To spare the feelings of some donors? (I know KW denied this was a reason in his presser.) But come on, man. This game will probably have a similar score as Iowa. First to 20 wins. Are all of the penalties, turnovers, ques- tionable play calling, and sub-par QB play just magically going to get better because they had a week off? Color me skeptical. Bryan Ericson TURNOVERS = LOSSES? True or False, Michigan would be 5-0 if they did not turn the ball over 9 times in 5 games? Not asking to pick or choose which turnovers, just in general if Michigan only had let's say 3-4 total turnovers in 5 games, would it be sitting at 5-0 and winning each game by at minimum 2 scores? I say yes. True Blue Fanatic ❱ Be Heard! Send your letters to: Wolverine Letters P.O. Box 2331 Durham, NC 27702 Or email: magazines@on3.com Letters may be edited for clarity or length.
