Under the Dome ✦ Gimme Five ESPN began its College GameDay tradition on Nov. 13, 1993 at Notre Dame, when the No. 2-ranked Fighting Irish defeated No. 1-ranked Florida State 31-24. Ironically, with its appearance on ESPN's College GameDay at Michigan this past weekend, Notre Dame tied Florida State for sixth place in that category with 24 apiece. USC is next with 20. Until last season, Notre Dame had never been on GameDay more than twice in one season, but in 2012 it appeared four times. Against Stanford, it was the host school for the first time since the USC clash in 2005. The Irish were also the GameDay visitor at Oklahoma and USC last year, plus the BCS National Championship Game versus Alabama. Entering the contest at Michigan, Notre Dame was 11-12 in its GameDay appearances — 4-4 at home, 7-7 on the road and 0-1 at the BCS neutral site. Here are the schools with the five most appearances: Rk. School Appearances 1. Florida 35 2. Ohio State 30 3. Oklahoma 28 4t. Alabama 25 4t.
