oklahoma game notes By Dan Murphy George Atkinson III Finds His Stride Notre Dame's extended search for a No. 1 running back — one that started in the first week of training camp — wound back to where it began, with the ball in the hands of junior George Atkinson III. The 220-pound running back ran through Oklahoma's defense with the authority his coaches expected when they put him alone at the top of the depth chart in August. Atkinson carried the ball 14 times for a career-high 148 yards and a touchdown during the 35‑21 loss to the Sooners. In four previous games, he had rushed 24 times for 121 yards. Atkinson attacked the line of scrimmage rather than keeping his hips parallel to the sideline and getting caught Red Zone EffIciency (Inside 20-Yard Line) No Poss.
