football recruiting ROUNDUP Recruiting Notes • Fort Wayne, Ind., three-star safety Drue Tranquill continues to go back and forth on whether or not he wants to remain committed to Purdue or flip to Notre Dame. The 6-2, 215-pound prospect was in West Lafayette when the Boilermakers hosted the Irish, and then he was in South Bend when Notre Dame played at home against Michigan State. Sources continue to tell Blue and Gold Illustrated that he will end up joining the Fighting Irish, but it's not a done deal yet. 247Sports ranks Tranquill as the No. 35 safety in the nation and the No. 7 recruit in Indiana. • Frostproof, Fla., four-star linebacker Cecil Cherry committed to Tennessee June 14, but Notre Dame offered the 6-1, 223-pound prospect Three-star safety Drue Tranquill Sept. 24 and it gave him something to think about. "This offer was big for me," Cherry told BlueandGold.com. "It's an is verbally committed to Purdue, but he has had Notre offer that you really want to get. Class of 2015 offensive tackle Jerry Tillery of Shreveport, La., will be in attendance, and the Notre Dame commit is hoping to make headway with a few other prospects in attendance. Dallas Bishop Dunne Catholic four-star teammates, cornerback Nick Watkins and safety Payton Hendrix, along with their 2015 defensive tackle teammate Darrion Daniels, will also make the trip. 247Sports ranks Watkins as the No. 25 cornerback nationally and the No. 34 player in Texas, and Hendrix as the No. 77 player in the Lone Star State. Notre Dame sits in great shape with all three recruits. A few other 2015 prospects will be in attendance, including Missouri City, Texas, four-star cornerback Kendall Sheffield; Ennis, Texas, four-star defensive end James Lockhart; Whitehouse, Texas, four-star safety Justin Dunning; Shreveport, La., four-star defensive tackle T.D.
