"We three are pretty much the guys that play the most intense and with the most emotion," Johns said. "It has to be a little bit in check this year … we have to show the freshmen this year it's unacceptable to lose your head in games." Jackson said he expects the seniorheavy roster to help his captains stay pointed in the right direction. Ten seniors return this season for a group that has played in the Frozen Four and won a CCHA championship since coming to South Bend and contributing right away. Last year's captain and leading scorer, Anders Lee, signed a pro contract with the New York Islanders. Defenseman Jared Beers will rejoin the team during the second semester after serving a suspension related to his arrest last winter. Other than that, the dozen players that arrived as a promising group of freshmen are still in the locker room and now approaching the end of the line in their college careers. "That gives us a lot of experience coming into this year," Tynan said. "We can definitely help our younger guys out."
