Under the Dome Top of The Class Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Elizabeth Tucker — Soccer The senior tri-captain earned all-district all-academic honors for the third year in a row in her final season with the Irish. Tucker started all 19 regular-season games for Notre Dame on defense, scored three goals and added an assist. She also holds a 4.0 GPA in her accounting major. She was a Capital One Academic All-America pick last fall and is now eligible to become the 15th Notre Dame player in any sport to win the award twice. Vince Hinostroza — Hockey Notre Dame's leading scorer through eight games, Hinostroza was named the National Rookie of the Month for October by the Hockey Commissioners Association. The freshman averaged a point per game (three goals and five assists) to help the Irish reach No. 2 in the national polls. He logged a point in five of six October games. He also was tabbed as the Hockey East Rookie of the Month, a first for the Irish who joined the new league this year. Martin Grady — Cross Country The senior finished fifth in his first and last ACC Championships race to win his third all-conference citation at Notre Dame. Grady led the Irish runners to a third-place finish as a team in their first year with the new conference. He crossed the finish line of the eight-kilometer course in 24:13.2. He will run in an NCAA regional qualifying meet Nov. 15 in Madison, Wis. Taya Reimer — Basketball The former No. 1 forward prospect in the nation made an immediate splash in her first game setting for Notre Dame this season. Reimer, a freshman from Indianapolis, scored 27 points without missing a field goal or free throw in the lone exhibition game of the preseason. She helped the Irish post a programrecord 118 points in a blowout win over California (Pa.). The McDonald's All-American was ranked as the fourth-best high school player in the country last year.
