While it was a difficult decision for Watkins, he said it became much easier after taking an official visit to South Bend for the USC game Oct. 19. "I couldn't be happier being committed to Notre Dame," Watkins said. "I pretty much knew that I was going to commit there once I got home from the game against USC. I talked with my parents, my family and my coach, and we all agree that Notre Dame's the best place for me as a student-athlete." Senior cornerback Bennett Jackson hosted the nation's No. 113 overall prospect during his official visit, and Watkins shared some very good news with the Irish defensive captain. "I spent a lot of time that weekend talking with Bennett, and I let him know that I was going to commit," Watkins noted. "He was real excited for me.
