Chuck Martin is Williams' primary recruiter. Although the Irish just recently offered, both Martin and Williams had been in constant communication over the past few months, and the offer wasn't completely out of the blue. "Coach Martin and I talk a lot, and we've talked even more since they offered," Williams said. "We talked a little at the start of the season, and he let me know I was being evaluated and that I could get an offer with a big senior season. Then we talked during the season, and he said that I was doing all the right things. He let me know that the staff will be talking about offering me soon. Then they ended up offering, and it just told me a lot about the staff. They were upfront and honest about the process and never promised anything or told me anything fake or wrong. "It felt pretty cool how everything worked out, and all that made this a real easy decision for me." Williams is a very gifted pass rusher and he's long frame has made him a terror for opposing offensive linemen all season long. During his senior campaign, he recorded 69 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, three passes broken up, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. He said that he spent all offseason training, working on his speed and adding size to make schools like Notre Dame look closer at him. "I didn't have a lot of offers after my junior, year and I worked really hard to prepare for my senior season," he said. "I guess you can say that it paid off. This is exactly what I was hoping for. An offer from Notre Dame is why I worked so hard.
