■ football recruiting Defensive Back commitment in private shortly after that and then hold off announcing his choice until National Signing Day. Rivals.com rates Boone as a three-star prospect. Byrd hails from Dade City, Fla., and graduated from Pasco High in 2012. He signed with Texas Christian after earlier committing to Boise State, but left TCU after a year to go to Iowa Western. This summer, he committed to Arizona. However, Byrd has taken official visits to South Florida (Nov. 8) and NC State (Nov. 29). He will travel to Arizona Dec. 13 and then make a choice after that so he can enroll for the spring semester. This season, the three-star prospect has made 44 tackles, including two for loss, in 11 games. Byrd has also intercepted a pair of passes, broken up six more and recovered a fumble. NC State is expected to host four-star corner Wesley Green of Lithonia (Ga.) Martin Luther King High for an official visit in January. Green (5-10, 170 pounds) is rated as the No. 203 overall player in the country and the No. 16 recruit from Georgia. Home-state Georgia and South Carolina are believed to be Green's big leaders. NC State has hosted three defensive backs for official visits, but three-star Andre Godfrey from Miramar (Fla.) High does not have NCSU among his list of favorites that includes Wisconsin, UCLA, Louisville and Utah. State, though, is still in the thick of it with Shawn Boone, a 5-10, 175-pounder from West Palm Beach (Fla.) Dwyer High, and Jamie Byrd, a 5-11, 190-pound safety at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Boone, a teammate of Dixon, has officially visited NCSU (Sept. 6), Arkansas (Sept. 13), Maryland (Oct. 26) and Penn State (Nov. 23). He is expected to see Ole Miss in January, and plans to tell the lucky college about his The Pack scheduled two-way performer Elliot Davis of North Potomac (Md.) Quince Orchard High for an official visit Dec. 6. Davis was offered by NCSU in November after State viewed his senior year highlights. Wake Forest, Maryland and Toledo rounded out Davis' top four, and the Deacons were his leader. That, however, was before Wake head coach Jim Grobe resigned. Rivals.com rates Davis as a two-star recruit. NC State hosted Randy Ramsey from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Dillard High on an official visit Nov. 1. Ramsey is being recruited as a "defensive athlete" that could play anywhere from defensive end to safety. The 6-3, Greenville (N.C.) Rose High defensive end Kentavius Street, who is listed as a five-star recruit and the No. 17 overall player nationally by Rivals.com, currently favors the Wolfpack due to its proximity to his home. photo courtesy rivals.com player in the state, was selected for the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas All-Star Game and Under Armour All-American Game Jan. 2 in St. Petersburg, Fla. Athlete NC State is expected to get a visit from Tampa (Fla.) Catholic athlete T.J. Harrell, a four-star recruit who could play running back, wide receiver, linebacker or safety in college. photo courtesy rivals.com 64  ■  the wolfpacker 62-65.FB Recruiting.indd 64 12/5/13 2:54 PM
