Game Preview: Rutgers Sept. 21: Rutgers 28, Arkansas 24 Nova threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes to lead a comeback in what would be Rutgers signature win of the 2013 season. The Scarlet Knights trailed by 17 points late in the third quarter, but more that 250 of Nova's 346 passing yards came during the fourth quarter rally. Two long punt returns from freshman wide receiver Janarion Grant also helped flip momentum and give Rutgers its second win over an SEC opponent in as many years. Oct. 5: Rutgers 55, Southern Methodist 52 (3OT) The Scarlet Knights needed three overtimes to get a win in their first American Athletic Conference game and extend their winning streak to four games. This time freshman running back Justin Goodwin played the hero with his 17-yard touchdown run on the final play of the game. Goodwin had 222 total yards on a day full of explosive offensive plays. Oct. 10: Louisville 24, Rutgers 10 Teddy Bridgewater, then a Heisman Trophy candidate, threw for 310 yards on a subpar night to carry No. 8 Louisville to victory. The Scarlet Knights struggled to sustain drives all night offensively and ran for a total of 12 yards against the Cardinals' defense. Oct. 26: Houston 49, Rutgers 14 Houston traveled to New Jersey and dismantled the Rutgers passing defense in a sloppy loss. Cougars freshman John O'Korn threw for five touchdowns, three of them to former Irish commit Deontay Greenberry.
