FITTING IN Transfer Anthony Gill Has Made His Presence Felt In His First Season Of Action At UVa V BY WHITELAW REID IRGINIA HEAD COACH Tony Bennett praises his attitude. Assistant coach Ritchie McKay uses the word "lovely" to describe his own experiences with him. Second-year forward Justin Anderson says he's somebody who he wants to be like. Fifth-year senior forward Akil Mitchell calls him a brother. Yes, Anthony Gill has fit in just fine, thank you, since joining the UVa program as a transfer from South Carolina. The redshirt second-year forward's production on the court has been pretty good, too. Through UVa's first 17 games this season, Gill was fourth on the team in scoring (7.8 points per game) and fifth in rebounding (3.6 rebounds per contest). Gill was far and away the highestpercentage shooter on the team, converting an impressive 61.5 percent from the field. Virginia's next-best shooter was fourth-year guard Joe Harris at 48.1 percent. Gill has provided the Cavaliers with an efficient low-post scorer, shooting a team-best 61.5 percent from the field through 17 contests.
