Dear Cavalier Friends, Uncompromised Excellence has been a phrase associated with Virginia Athletics since its adoption in 2002. Striving for that excellence extends to each of our 25 sports and 681 student-athletes, as well as, beyond the competition arena. It goes into the classroom to graduation and beyond. The path to Uncompromised Excellence is not an easy one. It starts with recruiting top quality student-athletes, creating an environment for academic and athletic success and shaping the lives of student-athletes to prepare them for a career beyond graduation. Along the way there are opportunities for dramatic wins, heartbreaking losses, ACC and NCAA championships and countless hours spent on academics at one of the premier institutions in the country. As a donor to Virginia Athletics, you are an integral part of our program and we are grateful for the investments that you have made to support our student-athletes. Raising the funds to pay for athletic scholarships is essential and has long been a core component of our fundraising efforts. We are committed to having a fully-funded scholarship program. With your help we will remain in a position to fund all 316.6 scholarships allowed by the NCAA. This ongoing investment is just one of many areas of focus in our fundraising program but remains the most critical. Over the i4-6.VAF.indd 4 past five years the cost of scholarships has increased 25% while the number of VAF members has remained essentially unchanged. The total amount raised has not kept pace. We would like for you to partner with us again in 2014 and hope you will continue with your investment in our student-athletes. 2014 FUNDRAISING GOAL: $15.4 MILLION Here are some ways you can help assure that Virginia Athletics and our student-athletes continue on the path to Uncompromised Excellence. Full details will be outlined in the campaign materials to be mailed around February 4. ◆ 'Hoos With Us is a way you can help us build our membership by getting your friends involved and at the same time earning extra priority points. ◆ Take It To The Next Level is a new initiative this year that gives you the option to take your support to the next giving level in order to help us reach our goal. ◆ Make your gift or pledge and participate in I Give 110%.
