BASKETBALL RECRUITING No. 28 junior nationally, led his Lin- colnshire (Ill.) Stevenson team to an 84-73 victory against No. 12 St. Viator in a Class 4A Lake Zurich Sectional semifinal with 34 points, six assists and six straight three-pointers af- ter an 0-of-3 start. The 6-0 Brunson opened the third quarter with three triples in the first four minutes to open a 22-point advantage. Michigan State has turned it up recently for Brunson. Head coach Tom Izzo has visited him twice, and Brunson was in East Lansing for the Spartans' March game with Il- linois. Beilein was also at his school to watch him play in March. • Auburn is the latest to get in- volved with La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere High shooting guard Jalen Coleman (6-3, Rivals.com's No. 34 junior in the country). Michigan has offered, but Coleman has chosen to take his time in the process. CLASS OF 2016 UPDATES • Michigan coaches continue to cast a wide net in the 2016 class. One of the latest to receive interest: Cana- dian Jamal Murray, a combo guard out of Kitchener, Ontario. The 6-5, self-described point guard was in attendance for U-M's home win over Michigan State after he and his Athlete Institute squad played La Porte (Ind.) La Lumiere (featuring 2015 four-star Michigan guard target Jalen Coleman) the previous day. Tony McIntyre, Syracuse frosh Tyler Ennis' father, coaches Murray with the CIA Bounce AAU program. "Jamal has a great body as a 6-5 point guard," McIntyre told Rivals.com recently. "He sees the floor well and shoots it extremely well. He's in control, can get to the basket when he wants and is really good at setting teammates up. He's definitely a top-notch kid. "He plays both on and off the ball. At the college level he is a legitimate 'one.' He is growing like crazy — he is going to end up a 6-6 point guard. His mental preparation is so strong, and his drive to get better is crazy." Ennis' success at Syracuse puts the Orange firmly in the mix, but Mc- Intyre said he wouldn't encourage Murray to go there on that reason alone. It's about fit, including play- Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson point guard Jalen Brunson, who is Rivals.com's No. 28 junior and holds a U-M offer, averaged 28.9 points per game during the month of February. PHOTO COURTESY RIVALS.COM
