NEW MEMBERSHIP INITIATIVES FOR 2014 Over the last five years, the cost of scholarships at the University of Virginia has increased over 25 percent. To help meet the rising costs, the VAF has implemented two new initiatives this year, while also continuing the I Give 110% initiative. 'Hoos With Us encourages UVa alumni and fans to support scholarship opportunities for student- athletes and help spread the work about the Virginia Athletics Foundation. The goals are to increase the VAF membership to 9,500 and to reward current members who encourage their personal contacts to become new VAF members. Please distribute the 'Hoos With Us pledge cards that were included in your 2014 Annual Campaign materials. If you need additional pledge cards, please feel free to contact our office or visit VirginiaAthleticsFoundation.com to print as many as you need. Take It To The Next Level is an initiative that encourages current VAF members to increase their 2014 commitment in support of UVa student-athletes. By participating in Take It To The Next Level you elect to go up to the next giving level, which will increase your priority points and benefits at certain levels. VAF giving levels have not increased since 2007, yet scholarship costs have continued to rise. Please consider one of these tangible ways to support your favorite Virginia sports teams. Your ad- ditional support provides student-athletes every opportunity to be successful at the University of Virginia. World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. Farrell, whose son Jeremy played for the Cavaliers from 2005-08, remarked on the accomplishments of the Virginia Baseball program and how the support of the Virginia Athlet- ics Foundation donors and fans has significantly impacted the overall success of the program. The event ended with a surprise recognition of Coaches Brian O'Connor, Kevin McMullan and Karl Kuhn who are celebrating their 10th year as a staff with Virginia—a truly remarkable ac- complishment in today's land- scape of collegiate baseball.
