School Commits Recruiting Notes With the recruiting process moving much faster these days, Notre Dame has already extended 47 schol- arship offers to recruits from the class of 2016. Here are three junior prospects that hold offers from the Irish and their thoughts on one of the most prestigious universities in the country: • Thousand Oaks, Calif., five-star quarterback Malik Henry first picked up an offer from the Irish on April 22. Henry immediately set up a visit to South Bend and stepped on campus for the first time June 20 for the Irish Invasion camp. "Just seeing the campus and seeing what Notre Dame has to offer me on and off the field. It was impres- sive," the 6-3, 180-pounder said. "They laid everything out there for me and explained things really well. The academic side of Notre Dame was great." Henry will return to campus for a second visit when Notre Dame hosts Michigan Sept. 6. As a sopho- more, Henry completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 2,362 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 intercep- tions. Per 247Sports, Henry is a five-star recruit, the No. 4 overall player in the land, the No. 2 pro-style quar- terback in the nation and the No. 1 prospect in California. • Notre Dame has had success at Cincinnati Elder High School in the past, so it's no surprise to see the Irish in the mix for standout offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer. Tight ends Kyle Rudolph and Alex Welch — class of 2008 and 2010 signees, respectively — started a mini-pipeline to South Bend, and the 6-5, 305-pounder could continue that tradition after picking up an offer from the Irish May 21. "Talking with [offensive line] Coach [Harry] Hiestand was definitely the best part of the day," Kraemer said of his June 11 trip to Notre Dame. "My dad and I sat in his office for nearly two hours and talked about how I could get better and watched film. He was showing me ways that I could just bury people in the ground when I get back on the field. It was great."
