FOOTBALL RECRUITING ROUNDUP Kraemer released a top five of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Northwestern, Boston College and Duke, but this looks to be an Irish-Buckeyes battle. Per 247Sports, Kraemer is a four-star recruit, the No. 36 overall player in the 2016 class, the No. 8 of- fensive tackle nationally and the No. 2 prospect in Ohio. • It's not often that Notre Dame could pull one of the best players from the South, but the Irish are one of the top schools for Shreveport, La., quarterback Shea Patterson. The 6-2, 195-pound recruit holds offers from the Irish, Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas and many others. An upcoming trip to South Bend when the Irish host Michigan Sept. 6 could put Notre Dame in the driver's seat for the elite signal-caller. "I'd say it's probably the biggest offer that I have," Patterson said of the Irish. "Notre Dame is already in my top group. I have a lot of family in the area, I grew up in Toledo, and the tradition at Notre Dame is huge. It's pretty exciting just knowing that I have the opportunity to play foot- ball there if I decide to go there." As a sophomore, Patterson com- pleted 138 of 223 passes for 2,655 yards with 34 touchdowns and only four interceptions. He added 241 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. Per 247Sports, Patterson is a four- star prospect, the No. 66 overall player in the country, the No. 4 pro- style quarterback in the nation and the No. 5 recruit in Louisiana. — Tom Loy Class of 2016 signal-caller Shea Patterson of Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist Academy holds offers from, among others, Notre Dame, Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma and Texas.
