FOOTBALL RECRUITING tion's top schools, including Florida State, Michigan and Ohio State. Listed as the No. 7 overall player in the 2016 class, the No. 2 offensive tackle nation- ally and the No. 1 prospect in Ohio ac- cording to 247Sports, Eichenberg has Notre Dame high on his list. Much of his interest comes from his time spent with Notre Dame offensive line coach Harry Hiestand. "Coach Hiestand is very particular with his coaching technique," Eichen- berg said. "He's just different. I love it. His coaching style is great. We were breaking down my film in the film room, and I learned so much from what he was telling me. "He was saying that I have a really good punch. He said that I need to do a better job with my hands when kicking back far and I need to work on pointing my feet the right way. I've never been told that, but it made sense." Notre Dame is hoping to land Eichenberg and pair him up with Cin- cinnati Elder four-star offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer, another recruit that will receive the Shamrock Selection package. The 6-5, 305-pound pros- pect has a top five of Notre Dame, Ohio State, Northwestern, Boston College and Duke, but hasn't set a commitment date at this time. The junior standout added an offer from the Irish May 21 and visited South Bend a few weeks later. Although he doesn't claim a leader from his top five, sources have told Blue & Gold Illustrated that Notre Dame leads and that summer visit may have been the point where the Irish gained an edge on the competition. "Talking with Coach Hiestand was definitely the best part of the day," Kraemer said. "My dad and I sat in his office for nearly two hours and talked about how I could get better and watched film. He was showing me ways that I could just bury people in the ground when I get back on the field. It was great. "We had dinner with Coach Hies- tand and a few of the offensive line- men, and then we toured the campus for most of the day. [Offensive line- men] Nick Martin, Mike McGlinchey and Hunter Bivin all joined us. They're great guys, and I got a lot from them. That was big for me. They shed a lot of light on the situation. 247Sports rates 2016 Irish target Liam Eichenberg of Cleveland St. Ignatius as a five-star prospect, the No. 7 overall recruit in the 2016 class, the No. 2 offensive tackle nationally and the No. 1 prospect in Ohio.
