FOOTBALL RECRUITING "They shared the same concerns that I did looking at Notre Dame. I'm a good student, but the academics are going to be a challenge. That hasn't been a concern since they got on cam- pus. That really put me at ease. They said they have a great support system and they are all doing better academi- cally than when they were even in high school." Another highlight of their trip was the time spent with Adam Sargent, an academic counselor at Notre Dame. It's a rarity for someone in the aca- demic office to get such glowing re- views, but it seems to be a regularity with Sargent. "I don't know how to explain it, but he has a really good vibe about him," Kraemer said of Sargent. "That may not be the best way to say it, but he's really impressive. As soon as you walk in and meet him, you just respect him and he grabs your attention. He explained everything so perfectly for my dad and I to understand it. It's really hard to explain, but I see why the other guys on the team are so im- pressed by him." The Shamrock Selection will arrive at the homes of roughly two-dozen recruits. In addition to the names men- tioned above, others likely to receive the package include Scotch Plains (N.J.) Paramus Catholic five-star de- fensive tackle Rashan Gary, Wayne (N.J.) De Paul Catholic four-star run- ning back Kareem Walker, Darien (Ill.) Hinsdale South four-star defen- sive end Josh King, Fort Wayne (Ind.) Bishop Luers four-star wide receiver Austin Mack and Fort Wayne (Ind.) High four-star defensive end Auston Robertson. ✦
