CAVALIERS FOR
LIFE SPOTLIGHT
Jason Williford, an assistant coach
for the UVa men's basketball team for
the past six years, has been at the Uni-
versity much longer. A 1995 gradu-
ate, Williford played for the Cavaliers
and knew the thrill of winning an NIT
championship and making appear-
ances in the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight.
"My experience was great," Willi-
ford said. "I had a ball and it is some-
thing I will never forget. The VAF
provided great opportunities for me
and my teammates and I wouldn't
have been able to come here without
my scholarship."
Coming full circle to work at his
alma mater, Williford sees the impact
so many donors have on student-ath-
letes and all of UVa athletics today.
"Coaching is a way I give back to
the game, but being able to give back
financially to provide other guys the
same opportunities I had is something
I think is important," he said. "If the
little bit I do can help a student-athlete
here, then it's worth it and it makes me
feel good. It's part of the game, and
I think it's important to always give
back."
