opportunities. For that matter, Farley
focused on them, too.
"Absolutely [I heard it]," he said. "I
didn't go looking for it. No one had to
tell me. I didn't play to the best of my
ability all year. Of course, I wouldn't
be surprised at all if people say that."
Those critiques led many to think
Farley would disappear into the
depth chart this season. With 23 tack-
les through six games this season, he
is on a similar pace as the previous
two years — but his presence has
been far more toward stalwart than
sloppy.
"I knew what I had to work on,"
Farley said. "Everyone knew what I
had to work on, and I really honed in
on that and avoided the noise."
He has established himself as a fix-
ture on the defense, even if he is with-
out a fixed position. In the spring,
first-year defensive coordinator Brian
VanGorder moved Farley from safety
to cornerback. This summer, Farley
rotated into the nickel package, partly
Farley posted 49 tackles in both the 2012 and 2013 campaigns, and he was on similar pace with 23 tack-
les through six games this season.
