me, and I just put myself in the best position to get open. Luckily, I made the play and extended the drive." He not only worked his way open and caught the ball, but he also dove for an extra couple yards to move the chains and keep Notre Dame's last gasp alive. "I had a feeling, a little inkling, so good thing I have the extra — 6-5 [height] — I stretched out a little bit," he said. Robinson scored on Notre Dame's third and fifth drives of the game. His first score was on a similar play to the one that was flagged at the end of the fourth quarter. For most of 2014, Fuller has been Notre Dame's primary target in the passing game. He snagged eight passes for 79 yards and a touchdown. Against Florida State, however, Rob- inson stood out as the top playmaker. "Everett, I thought, did a great job at getting through his progressions," head coach Brian Kelly said. "One of the things that he really needs to develop, and he took it to heart this week, was working through his pro- gressions. He got the ball out to C.J. [Prosise] and Corey. "The slant he threw on the last drive to Corey was an indication that he's not just going to lock in on one guy. He's going to go to the guy that is open. I thought he did a great job there on the last drive." Through seven games, Robinson has recorded 27 receptions for 359 yards and four touchdowns. "He's definitely a huge asset to our team," said Golson, who attempted a career high 52 passes. "He's 6-5, 6-6. He catches everything in his radius." • Florida State offensive line coach Rick Trickett did not coach in the game. The Orlando Sentinel reported prior to kickoff that it was health-related. • Senior linebacker Ben Councell (undisclosed injury), senior cornerbacks Josh Atkinson and Jalen Brown (coach's decision), and freshman tight end Tyler Luatua (concussion) did not travel with the team. • Senior Matthias Farley served as Notre Dame's nickel back after fifth-year senior Cody Riggs han- dled those duties the previous week in the 50-43 win over North Carolina. • Senior running back Cam McDaniel notched his first kickoff returns of the season against the Seminoles for a unit that was plagued by miscom- munication against North Carolina Oct. 11. He finished with three returns for 49 yards (16.3 yards per attempt). • Senior kicker Kyle Brindza set the Notre Dame record for made field goals with his 34-yarder in the second quarter that put the Irish up 17-10. His fourth-quarter field goal against Stanford Oct. 4 had tied former Notre Dame kicker John Carney's 28-year-old record of 51. After his two makes against Florida State, Brindza now has 53. • Florida State's 31 points are the fewest in a game with Jameis Winston at quarterback. The previous low came in last year's BCS National Championship Game, when the Seminoles beat Auburn 34-31. • Notre Dame's 12-play, 84-yard drive that took 6:43 off the clock in the first quarter marked the longest drive Florida State has allowed in yardage and time of possession in 2014. • In the season's first five games, Notre Dame shut out opponents in the third quarter. North Carolina scored 10 Oct. 11, and Florida State tal- lied 14. MISCELLANEOUS NOTES
