FAN FORUM be saying they deserve a spot based on winning the league title and winning head to head against Oregon. • An 11‑1 Notre Dame defeated Stan‑ ford head to head, but would it get one of the remaining three spots over Georgia, Florida, Oregon or Stanford? • Kansas State won the Big 12, but be‑ cause it was trounced by Baylor late in the year, it probably would not be selected over Notre Dame. Without a conference championship game to win, Notre Dame might be per‑ ceived as having a bit of a disadvantage, but it is trying to compensate with strong overall schedules. Buckle your seat belt, because these type of debates eventually will occur. ✦ FROM THE WEBSITE One of our more familiar posters on the BlueandGold.com message board is 1966‑68 Notre Dame All‑America quar‑ terback Terry Hanratty, father of current Irish offensive lineman Conor Hanratty. He received a huge response and sup‑ port for his thoughts on Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston's autograph controversy. TerryQB: I have been to four signings in the last 20 years (paid), usually groups of Notre Dame or Pittsburgh Steelers fans, or a combo. They are BRUTAL. No one in his right mind would do this for free. I signed between 300 to 500 autographs per ap‑ pearance. It's not only your name. They want you to put extra. Example: Terry Hanratty, #5, 1966 National Champs. Every time I finish I say I'll never do this again. So when you hear someone does this for the fun of it — BS. I have never not signed an autograph outside the Notre Dame or Steeler locker room for free. When you are signing 500, it's a business and everyone is getting paid. NDNJ96: For a 20‑year‑old kid, there is no way he does that to make someone else a boatload of money (nor should he). Twanywon: What a disgrace. I cannot believe the NCAA has not stepped in yet. DanP: I get tired signing any lengthy contract more than four times … does FSU really think the world is this stupid? Former Notre Dame quarterback Terry Hanratty (1966‑68) weighed in on Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston's autograph signing controversy. PHOTO CURTESY NOTRE DAME MEDIA RELATIONS
