GAME PREVIEW: NAVY
ping 9.0 yards per snap.
Navy has a huge nose guard in 6-1,
303-pound Bernard Sarra, but its two
starting ends are only 251 and 246
pounds, and the linebacker corps is
relatively small too.
The obvious modus operandi of
Navy is to try to shorten the game by
controlling the football and ideally lim-
iting Notre Dame to two possessions
per quarter (or eight for the game).
That's not easy to do, but even if the
Irish do get only eight possessions,
as long as they don't have a turnover
frenzy, they will probably be expected
to score touchdowns on at least five or
six of them.
THE FINAL MONTH PUSH
Relatively speaking, Notre Dame's
eight weeks of football from Aug. 30
through Oct. 25 were probably not as
taxing as usual. For the first time since
1903, the Irish did not play a true road
The Midshipmen had a difficult time slowing down wide receiver TJ Jones and the Irish in 2013, allowing
38 points and 506 yards on 56 plays (9.0 yards per snap).
