MEN'S BASKETBALL we've found a role for you and we're going to keep it simple. You need to pressure the ball, man, because no one can pressure the ball like you, maybe in the league. You're really good at it. Just run our team and make good deci- sions with the ball.'" RULE CHANGES Head coach Mike Brey said last year's controversial rules change with charges — one that benefited defensive players — has been toned down in 2014-15. "The biggest rule change is the charge rule that we screwed up, and remember it was on the gather the guy has to be set and it was really harder to take a charge," he said. "I think I said at times last year you didn't know how to teach taking a charge because you had to be there so early. "We've gone back to if there's a de- fender is in position before the offensive player leaves the floor, then it's a charge. "It's easier for officials, easier for coaches to say, 'Go on in there and get charges again.' That's the biggest one." During Notre Dame's pair of exhibi- tion games it will experiment with a 30-second shot clock rather than the typical 35-second one that has been criticized in recent years. The ACC as well as some other conferences across the country will use the exhibition games to test the new format. "We'll vote on it in the spring in the rules committee — I'm not a part of [the committee] anymore — we'll go to a 30-second shot clock I think after this season," he said. Brey was grateful that the off-the- ball contact fouls will still be empha- sized by officials this season after their introduction a year ago. "We like to run and move, so when we get grabbed and held, it's benefi- cial for us and it's good for the game, the flow," he said. ✦ 2014-15 NOTRE DAME MEN'S BASKETBALL ROSTER No. Name Pos. Ht. Wt.
