EVENT RECAPS 40-YEAR MILESTONE CELEBRATION The 4 th Annual VAF 40-year Milestone Celebration was held the weekend of September 26-27 in conjunction with the Virginia football game versus Kent State. The celebration, which honored all VAF members who reached their 40 th anniversary for consecutive years of giving in 2013, included a dinner on Friday evening at Morven Farms and an onfield recognition during the football game on Saturday. At the dinner, guests enjoyed an all-athletics highlight video from the past season and were treated to a performance by the Virginia Gentlemen. Dirk Kat- stra opened the evening by thanking the honorees for their longtime support, while Dick Abidin – one of the 40-year Milestone donors – offered his personal sentiments on why supporting Virginia athletics is so important. Head Virginia Baseball Coach Brian O'Connor was the keynote speaker for the evening. Coach O'Connor reminisced about the success of the baseball pro- gram during his 10-year tenure, noting this success was made possible through the generosity and loyalty of supporters like the 40-year milestone donors.
