MICHIGAN FOOTBALL Redshirt sophomore defensive line- man Ryan Glasgow and his older brother Graham, a redshirt junior offensive lineman, took very similar paths to Ann Arbor and are both con- tributing in a big way in the trenches. The younger Glasgow didn't receive any scholarship offers coming out of high school and chose to walk on to the Michigan football team. Three years later and he's become a staple on the interior defensive line. He didn't know what to expect when he joined the team, but he's earned every minute of playing time. The Wolverine: Michigan has plenty of players on scholarship. Why do you think there has been a group of walk-ons like yourself who have been able to get playing time? Glasgow: "A lot of it is just competing. I signed up here and didn't know if I was ever going to play, but I signed up to compete and challenge every day. I know that the other walk-ons on the defensive line have as well. "If it works out, it works out, and if it doesn't you know you gave your best. I'm going to try my hardest and everyone on the D-line works their tail off every day. They are trying their hardest because there are a lot of people there that are capable of playing, and if you don't bring you're 'A' game every day then you might not get as many reps as the game before." The Wolverine: You said you weren't sure if you'd ever play, so what were your expectations when you walked on here at Michigan? Glasgow: "I wanted to play. I didn't really know what to expect. I knew there were a lot of talented guys coming in, but I was ready to go along for the ride and just work as hard as I could." The Wolverine: Have you surprised yourself that you're as big of a part of the defense as you are at this point?
