to an outright Big Ten title, averag- ing 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds. He garnered first-team All-Big Ten and second-team All-America status, and became the No. 4 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, taken by the Charlotte Bobcats. Mr. Basketball 2010, Deshaun Thomas — Thomas played three seasons of college basketball at Ohio State, averaging 7.5 points and 3.5 re- bounds per game as a freshman. He followed that up with a sophomore season in which he took a huge leap, to 15.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. As a junior, his numbers dropped off a bit (14.4 and 4.9), but he still finished as the No. 9 scorer in school history. Jumping early to the NBA, he became the No. 58 pick in the 2013 draft, going to the San Antonio Spurs. Mr. Basketball 2009, Jordan Hulls — Hulls became a thorn in the side of Indiana's Big Ten opponents for years, with his ability to fire away from long range. Hulls played four seasons for the Hoosiers, starting 17 games as a true freshman and leading the Big Ten in three-point field goal percentage (48.7) as a senior on the Hoosiers' 2012-13 Big Ten title team. Hulls went undrafted in 2013, instead signing a pro contract with Energa Czarni of the Polish Basketball League. He's now with Sigal Prishtina of the Balkan League. Mr. Basketball 2008, Tyler Zeller — The seven-foot brother of Cody Zeller, Tyler Zeller spent his four collegiate seasons at North Carolina. His scoring and rebounding averages went up every season, topping out at 16.3 points and 9.6 rebounds per game his redshirt junior year. He became the ACC Player of the Year and a second-team All-American in concluding his career as a Tar Heel. Despite retaining fifth-year eligibility after missing most of his freshman year with a stress reaction in his right shin, Zeller entered the 2012 NBA Draft and went No. 17 overall to the Dallas Mavericks. — John Borton The Hoosiers' Cody Zeller was Indiana's Mr. Basketball in 2011, two years before Irvin, and he went on to become a first-team All- Big Ten selection in 2013.
