FOOTBALL RECRUITING wide receiver George Campbell. The 6-3, 183-pounder is the No. 10 wide receiver and No. 78 overall prospect nationally, and had picked Michigan July 27, 2013, on an unofficial visit to campus along with teammate Mason Cole, a 2014 prospect who is start- ing for the Wolverines as a freshman. However, after family pressure to stay closer to home in Florida — along with an inconsistent U-M offense — Camp- bell decommited from the Wolverines in December. He has since committed to Florida State. Shortly after Campbell's decision to re-open his pledge, and for similar rea- sons, five-star running back Damien Harris did the same. Harris, a lifelong Michigan fan from Berea (Ky.) Madi- son Southern, had pledged to U-M just days after Campbell, forming a strong nucleus to the Wolverines' 2015 class. When Campbell decommitted, the idea of a dream team in Ann Arbor was gone. Harris' lead recruiter, offensive coor- dinator Al Borges (who had employed current Madison Southern head coach Jon Clark as a graduate assistant in a previous coaching stop at Auburn), was dismissed following the offensive struggles of the 2013 season, and Har- ris re-opened his pledge. The No. 10 overall prospect and top running back nationally is uncommitted, but in- cludes Kentucky, Ohio State and Flor- ida among his favorite programs. The home-state Wildcats are considered the front-runner for the 5-11, 210-pounder. Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward defen- sive back Shaun Crawford was next to drop the Maize and Blue. Another longtime Michigan fan, Crawford be- gan to re-think his pledge after earning an offer from Notre Dame during his junior season. Ultimately, the possi- bility of continuing his Catholic edu- cation and the campus experience in South Bend, which he took in during the summer of 2014, were too much for Michigan to overcome. He re-opened his recruitment May 24 and picked the Irish on Father's Day, June 14. Although diminutive at just 5-9 and 165 pounds, Crawford shows an ath- leticism and playmaking ability that have him ranked the No. 13 corner- back and No. 114 overall player in the nation. Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward star Shaun Crawford, Rivals.com's No. 13 corner and No. 114 overall recruit in the class of 2015, flipped his pledge from U-M to Notre Dame. PHOTO BY TIM SULLIVAN
