HIGH FLYER
The UVa men's basketball team was off to
its best start (17‑0) in 34 years, and third‑year
guard Justin Anderson was a big reason why.
Last year, the Maryland native was tabbed as
the ACC Sixth Man of the Year after provid‑
ing athleticism and defense off the bench.
This year, he entered the starting lineup and
taken his offensive game to new heights.
Through Jan. 18, he was averaging career
highs in scoring (14.5 points per game), re‑
bounds (4.4 boards per contest), field goal
percentage (50.6), three‑point percentage
(52.7) and minutes played (29.5 per outing).
After making only 50 of 168 three‑pointers
(29.8 percent) his first two seasons in Char‑
lottesville, he knocked down 39 of his first 74
(52.7 percent) from long range this season
to top the ACC and rank among the national
leaders. As a result, he was named to the
Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 on Jan. 14.
