VAF MEMBERS OF THE GAME
Members of the Game are selected from the VAF membership and winners can include individuals who have a
history of loyal support or first-time donors and individuals who support the Foundation through the annual fund,
capital projects, Friends Of or the VAF endowment. Winners receive special recognition at home games.
Members of the Game for the Miami football game were Richard "Dick" and Carole Lear of Richmond, Va. Dick
and Carole are longtime VAF members who reached their 25th year of consecutive giving in 2014. They choose to
support VAF because of what Virginia athletics represents – "great coaches, great athletes, great students, great
role models for kids!"
One of their favorite moments in Virginia sports history was cheering on the Virginia baseball team during the final
game of the 2011 Super Regional against UC Irvine. The win sent Virginia to Omaha for the College World Series.
