that I need to focus on that more," Moses admitted. "Go to the boards every time the ball goes up and that's going to help S.I." Moses also gives Boyle something she didn't have last season — a post presence when Imovbioh needs a break. "If we need to take S.I. out it still gives us a tra- ditional 'five' player in the post," Boyle said. "Last year, if S.I. came out of the game we had to go small right away — basically a four-guard lineup, almost a five-guard lineup. "But with Lauren it's allowed us to stay with at least one traditional post player on the floor." Moses can spell Imovbioh, and Virginia still retains a rebounding and shot blocking presence down low. When both post players are on the floor, unlike 2014, opponents have to account for Moses. When UVa is on offense, opposing defenders can't sag off Moses and double team Imovbioh, they must account for the first-year's rebounding ability. A third of the way through the ACC season, Boyle said she was looking for bigger and better things from Moses moving into the heart of league play. "She's had her up-and-down games like a typical freshmen, has gotten into some foul trouble, has had trouble finding a rhythm," Boyle said. "But as a coach, I look more at the longevity of Lauren. She's starting as freshman. Where can she be at the end of the season? Where can she be in the next three years? "We're looking for more consistency from Lau- ren," Boyle added. "She's a little off balance now and sometimes trying to rush through things, so just being consistent and trying to slow down and not feel as though she has to do 100 things for us in the game." Moses said there are several areas moving for- ward where she'd like to further develop her game starting with her help-side defense. "On the help side I can get deflections on the ball when people go to score, and I think that by blocking shots and helping Sarah on the boards, I can be a more complete player," she stated. "I'm also looking to build on finishing and rebounding offensively and defensively, staying strong on my finishes is going to make a huge difference and improving my free throw shooting." Moses is also looking to be more aggressive of- fensively and take advantage of the opportunities playing with a strong post presence like Imovbioh. "When I have the ball on the high post, people will sag off me because they know I'm trying to get the ball into Sarah. Once I start to read that and shoot the 15-footer or drive to the basket more, then they're going to have to defend me more which makes her wide open." Boyle likes what Moses is doing and thinks a few tweaks to her game could be a big difference in terms of confidence and increased production. "Lauren just needs to be solid, play great de- fense, hit bunnies [easy, uncontested shots], hit layups, chippies and stay out of foul trouble. And I think if she does those three things, her confidence level would really increase." ◆ "She's a worker; she's in the gym all of the time, learning the system, learning college basketball. Learning this level of play has been a little bit of a grind for her, but she's going to find her way because she's a really skilled post." HEAD COACH JOANNE BOYLE ON MOSES
