F
our years into his NFL career, for-
mer Michigan offensive lineman
Steve Schilling has decided to call
it quits. A knee injury prematurely
ended his season last year in Seat-
tle, and Schilling has apparently had
enough of professional football.
"It's just a personal choice for me
at this time in my life," Schilling told
The Seattle Times. "I wouldn't say there
was any one reason or not. Just more
of a personal choice."
The Times reported that Seahawks
head coach Pete Carroll had been
optimistic he'd re-sign the player he
once recruited when he was head
coach at USC. Instead, he'll search for
his replacement.
"I had high hopes for that happen-
ing," Carroll said of the team's desire
to sign Schilling. "I had high hopes
that we could. We were excited about
it."
