UNDER THE DOME
Kelly said it was Williams' final chance to be with the team. He will still be is-
sued a locker and be provided with an opportunity to work out in the facilities,
but he is not allowed to practice, nor will he count toward the team's 85-man
scholarship roster this season.
"I think he's going to get himself organized academically now that he has
finality with this," Kelly said. "And I think he's still interested in maybe pursu-
ing the NFL, but he's still kind of figuring out what he wants to do."
Williams played in 35 career games and started one, but never was able to
reach his five-star status after enrolling at Notre Dame out of Brooklyn (N.Y.)
Lincoln High School.
Williams was slated to be Notre Dame's starting strongside defensive end in 2014, but he was side-
lined in August by the school's much-publicized academic probe and never saw the field again.
