PREP PROFILES Early in his recruitment, Mesquite (Texas) North Mesquite offensive lineman Jean Delance picked up a Michigan offer, but didn't think as much about the Wolverines as some of the other programs that were an- gling to land him. That changed in June, when he at- tended the Wol- verines' satellite camp in Grand Prairie, Texas. "Everybody is kind of on that s a m e p a g e , " D e l a n c e s a i d . "But Coach [Jim] Harbaugh, he's a great personality, he's a great head coach, and prob- ably one of the best I've talked to since my recruiting process began." The Wolverines have kept in con- tact with the 6-5, 270-pounder, and when he narrowed his list to just six schools, U-M was among them. Alabama, Auburn, Ohio State, Texas and Texas A&M are alive for the four-star prospect, but Mich- igan is the only program among his top schools to which he's set an official visit. He'll see Ann Arbor when the Buckeyes come to town Nov. 28. "I know the coaching staff is go- ing to take care of me very well, and I know Ohio State-Michigan is going to be a great atmosphere just to see how the coaches and people are in general," Delance said. "I know that's going to be a crazy col- lege game day for them." While he's still willing to take unofficial visits to some schools outside his list of finalists, he's ex- pecting to pick from among those six, and Michi- g a n s t a n d s a g o o d s h o t t o convince him of i t s w o r t h i n e s s when he makes his way to town. Even if his favor- ites change over time, he doesn't expect to release a new group of top schools, but rather the next big announcement he makes will be his college commitment. He's hoping to make his pledge at the Under Armour All-America Game Jan. 4 in St. Petersburg, Fla. "I'm thinking if it's not the Un- der Armour Game, it will be before that," Delance said. "It's going to be that time or the date [fellow Mes- quite natives and now Texas Long- horn freshmen] Malik Jefferson and DeAndre McNeal made their deci- sion, Dec. 19." The Wolverines will have to wait to find out if they're the lucky win- ner in the Delance sweepstakes, but have a great opportunity to state their case in late November. — Tim Sullivan Michigan Growing On Texas Lineman ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ ✪ North Mesquite High School Mesquite, Texas Class: 2016 Position: Offensive Line Ht.: 6-5 • Wt.: 270 Rivals.com Rankings: No. 16 player in Texas, and No. 16 offensive tackle and No. 159 overall player nationally Jean Delance
