FROM OUR READERS (I think all of this is very unlikely because: 1) I don't see Notre Dame joining; but 2) if they did, then I think Oklahoma — at the very least — would be a near lock. True partnership in a league that's on firm ground versus dealing with the Belle of the Ball.) Anyway, if Notre Dame would join but you couldn't nab Texas or Oklahoma, I'd go get Georgia Tech. Good school in the deep south. Cal Varnsen • I know we're only (three) games into the season, but I'm really enjoying it more than any in recent memory. Maybe it's the Harbaugh Effect, or maybe the past several years have really helped me step back and put things into perspective a little better. We get 12 opportunities (13 if we're lucky; perhaps more in the near future!) a year to indulge in this great passion that we have — I've just really grown to appreciate and enjoy those moments, whereas in the past I would over- analyze or criticize; lament the losses and sulk if things weren't going perfect. Now, I just enjoy seeing the team play and look forward to the next game … because how long and drawn out are those eight months without this game we all love so much? We usually reserve these cheesy (if not entirely apropos) statements about cherishing every moment you have with your loved ones, friends and family … but is Michigan football, in a way, not our loved ones, our friends and our family? I'm going to savor every play, from the opening kickoff until the clock hits triple zeroes … because after that, there will only be (nine) more opportuni- ties to do so. Don't waste them by worrying "what if this guy got more carries" or "how great would we be if only this guy was here" … because none of that really matters. All that matters is the return of Michigan football. Michigan4 • Good post. I definitely agree this year has a different feel. The worst thing for me about the last few years is that the one thing I could always count on with Michigan football was that I'd get my 12 Saturdays a year to CARE. Wins always seemed possible. Last year especially, it just became more and more obvious that things were spiraling down and there didn't seem to be any easy answer how to fix it. Whether we go 6-6 or 11-1 this year, you get the feeling you'll have hope of victory in every single game and the program is most definitely headed in the right direction. JerseyBlue4
