MICHIGAN FOOTBALL true freshman. In the season opener at Utah, Perry had three receptions for 41 yards, and while he has yet to catch another ball — he was targeted only once in the next two contests — Perry is showing a deft ability to block oppos- ing defensive backs, cementing a role in the offense. 4. WR Drake Harris: Despite glowing practice reports from the redshirt fresh- man wide receiver, the in-game impact has been limited so far, with Harris mak- ing three receptions for eight yards in three games. Harris did sneak behind the defense against UNLV and could have scored a touchdown if fifth-year senior quar- terback Jake Rudock's pass was more on target (the throw took Harris out of bounds). The talent is there, though, and Michi- gan could use another deep threat to stretch the field. 5. WR Brian Cole: Though the true freshman wide receiver has yet to make a real impact in the passing game (just one reception for minus-one yard), he's showcased his ability on special teams. In the victory over Oregon State Sept. 12, Cole was frequently pestering Bea- ver punter Nick Porebski, nearly block- ing three punts. Cole sat out week three with an undis- closed injury, but when he returns it is only a matter of time until he makes a big special teams play. 6. WR Maurice Ways: The redshirt freshman wide receiver is third or fourth on the depth chart, but he's still taken the field early on in his career with one reception against UNLV for 21 yards. He also played a handful of snaps in run blocking situations during that contest. 7. QB Wilton Speight: With junior quarterback Shane Morris looking to take a redshirt, the redshirt freshman signal-caller will be the second quar- terback in for Michigan when the game is in hand. If an injury does occur to Rudock, Mor- ris will still be the next man up. Speight is 0-of-3 passing on the season, but threw a couple nice deep balls that just barely missed his receivers against the Rebels. 8. OL Juwan Bushell-Beatty: Though clearly a backup, the redshirt freshman is listed on the two-deep and saw the field in the fourth quarter against UNLV, playing left tackle. 9. DB Brandon Watson: The redshirt freshman cornerback is listed on the two- deep, backing up junior Channing Strib- ling. He's already seen the field on special teams and saw his first defensive action in the fourth quarter against UNLV. — Jeff Slade 2015 MICHIGAN FOOTBALL SCHEDULE Date Opponent (TV) Time (ET) Sept. 3 at Utah (FS1) L, 24-17 Sept. 12 Oregon State (ABC) W, 35-7 Sept. 19 UNLV (BTN) W, 28-7 Sept. 26 BYU (ABC/ESPN) Noon Oct. 3 at Maryland (BTN) 8 p.m. Oct. 10 Northwestern (TBA) 3:30 p.m. Oct. 17 Michigan State (TBA) TBA Oct. 31 at Minnesota 8 p.m. (ABC/ESPN/ESPN2) Nov. 7 Rutgers (TBA) TBA Nov. 14 at Indiana (TBA) TBA Nov. 21 at Penn State (TBA) TBA Nov. 28 Ohio State (TBA) TBA
