At least 15 official vis-
its were planned for the
Oct. 17 clash with the
Trojans, and that was
not even including more
than a half-dozen play-
ers who already have
issued verbal commit-
ments to Notre Dame.
That led to an inquiry
about whether Kelly and
his staff were spread-
ing themselves too thin
with so many visits, and
whether they would pre-
fer a more limited num-
ber.
"We always do — and
we always break that
rule," Kelly said. "Every
year we sit down and go,
'We're only going to take
13 [visitors]; we're only
