44 ■ THE WOLFPACKER 2015-16 WOLFPACK BASKETBALL PREVIEW BY JACEY ZEMBAL T he Wolfpack knocked down 236 three-point shots in 2014-15, but faces the unenviable task of replacing 77.5 percent (183) of that production this season. Nevertheless, NC State feels confident that shooting the basketball will remain a team strength. Last season's top two scorers Ralston Turner (12.8 points per game and a team- best 94 three-pointers) and Trevor Lacey (15.7 and 78) are playing overseas this sea- son. Lacey had a year remaining of eligibil- ity, but elected to turn professional and is in Italy, while Turner is in country of Georgia. The duo combined to averaged 28.5 points per game last year and shot 37.8 percent (172 of 455) from three-point land. Junior point guard Anthony Barber made 27 three-pointers a year ago, and sophomore wing Caleb Martin had 25. The only other returning player who made a three-pointer was sophomore Abdul- Malik Abu, who went 1 of 5. That doesn't mean the cupboard is barren. NC State has some shooters, including one who has 89 made three- pointers on his Division I résumé. West Virginia transfer Terry Henderson is expected to keep the shooting tradi- tion alive under head coach Mark Gottfried. "I think that we have good shooters, they just haven't done it yet," Gottfried said. "We're going to find out if Terry Hen- derson can make threes on a consistent basis." The 6-5, 195-pound Hender- son averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 37.6 percent from three-point range for the Mountaineers in 2013-14. He made three or more three-pointers in seven games that season, includ- ing going 5 of 6 against Texas Tech and 5 of 7 against Oklahoma State. READY, AIM, FIRE NC State Is Reloading With Three-Point Snipers Redshirt junior Terry Henderson averaged 11.7 points per game and shot 37.6 percent from three-point range while at West Virginia in 2013-14.
