8 ■ THE WOLFPACKER The middle part of the season is always an exciting time for me as a head coach. We are over halfway through our season, and I've seen growth in the mental and physical maturity of this team. This is the time of year where you really find out what kind of team you have. We have already had our ups and downs this season, and it is important for us to focus one game at a time. If each of us continue to focus on our jobs and winning our one-on-one battles, we can be a very tough football team. The bye week came at an opportune time for us following two difficult conference losses. It gave us a great chance to regroup and get healthy. The staff took the time to really evaluate our Xs and Os and ourselves as coaches. I believe that our staff does a great job of self-scouting and figuring out how to get better. It is also a very important time for our players to get some much needed rest. We came out of the bye week as healthy as we could have been, and I think it showed that we were ready to play football when we took the field against Wake Forest Senior Class The final games are coming for this senior class. We have one of the smallest senior classes in the country, but this class has done a great job of providing leadership and the hard work necessary for laying the foundation of the pro- gram. These young men have been an integral part of what we are building here at NC State. It has been my privilege to coach them for the past three years. The focus of our team cannot be on what we did in the season so far but what remains ahead of us. In the 2014 season, we finished by winning four of our last five games with a great bowl win to cap off the year. By taking it one game at a time, I think that we can beat that mark.
