BY LOU SOMOGYI N otre Dame's back-to- back trips to Pennsyl- vania for games against Temple (Oct. 31) and Pitt (Nov. 7) reminds one of the immense contributions the Keystone State has made to the Fighting Irish football heritage. This year, by our count, cur- rent freshman running back Josh Adams (Warrington) be- came the 212th Notre Dame player from the state to ap- pear in game action. Other than Ohio and Illinois, no state has produced more talent and depth across the board than Pennsylvania. That inspired us to assemble our all-time All-Pennsylvania team at Notre Dame. Quarterback: Joe Montana (Monanga‑ hela, 1975, 1977‑78) His career stats at Notre Dame weren't eye-popping (including 27 touchdowns NOTRE DAME'S ALL-PENNSYLVANIA TEAM The Keystone State has been kind to Notre Dame over the years From 1947-77, four different quarterbacks from Pennsylvania were starters on national title teams at Notre Dame, includ- ing Monangahela's Joe Montana.
