UNDER THE DOME Irish student-athletes excelling on the field and in the classroom Anna Maria Gilbertson — Soccer The senior forward found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the third minute for what would eventually prove to be the only goal scored in No. 15 Notre Dame's 1-0 win over No. 22 Duke Oct. 25. The goal was a team-high ninth of the year for the former two-time California all-state performer, and it was her fifth of the season that decided a match in favor of the Irish. Maddie Rose Hamilton — Golf The freshman from Louisville, Ky., shot a career-best 18- hole 68 — a round that was capped by a birdie on her final hole — Oct. 25 to help the Irish finish one shot ahead of No. 12 Oklahoma State for runner-up honors in an 18-team field at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. Hamilton tied for 19th overall out of 96 individuals with a three-over-par 219 (77-74-68) for the tournament. Bobby Nardella — Hockey The freshman defenseman picked up Hockey East Rookie of the Week honors after helping the Irish to a pair of ties against No. 5 Minnesota Duluth Oct. 23-24. The Rosemont, Ill., native scored his first career goal in a 3-3 tie against the Bulldogs Oct. 23, then recorded two assists in another 3-3 tie Oct. 24. Through four games, Nardella was tied for second on the team with four points (one goal and three assists). Molly Seidel — Cross Country The senior placed second against a stacked field at the Wisconsin Invitational Oct. 16, finishing the 6,000-meter race with a time of 19:22.4. Boise State's Allie Ostrander (19:19.5) was the only harrier to cross the finish line ahead of the Irish All-American. Seidel led the Irish to a 12th-place finish in the 36-team field, which featured 20 ranked programs. TOP OF THE CLASS
