outside that there was going to be no way for him to make it over there. "I should've put it a little higher so Will could go up and stay away from the safety, but with as fast as he is and as good as he is, it didn't really affect anything." Junior left tackle Ronnie Stanley … On Temple's defense: "That was a great battle. That defense, they came after us every play. The motor on those guys is incredible, and I give them a lot of credit for playing their hearts out tonight. We knew they were going to play pretty much their base defense, but we knew they were going to change some things up — which they did. "We were able to account for a lot of those things, but a lot of those things also gave us weird looks. We definitely had to talk about a few of those things, but we overcame them all." On the postgame atmosphere in the locker room: "It's a little mix of everything, mostly happy. We're al- ways happy to get a win, especially in college football." Temple head coach Matt Rhule … On his defense: "We gave up a couple of big plays; that's unfortu- nate. We had a missed assignment on the long run. I thought we stopped the run, but they hurt us with bubble screens and perimeter plays, and I thought they showed heart. "We gave them the ball in plus ter- ritory and caused some turnovers, but the big play at the end and the big play on the long run by Kizer … Tavon Young played a fantastic game tonight. He played man to man on Will Fuller until that last play, which was Cover 2. He had a great game tonight, and I thought our defense hung in there, but gave up too many big plays. "Notre Dame made one more play than us." Temple redshirt junior defensive end Praise Martin-Oguike … On Kizer's performance: "You saw his speed. He is a very fast player, and even with a pass rush you just have to contain him. You know any minute he can get away from you, so you just have to contain him." — Jordan Wells Notre Dame's offensive line had to contend and adjust to various looks presented by the stout Temple defense, but helped the Irish compile 467 total yards.
