FOOTBALL RECRUITING BY ANDREW IVINS T he stakes will be high for Notre Dame when Wake Forest travels to town on for the regular-season home finale Nov. 14. Not only will the Irish be looking to keep their College Football Playoffs chances alive, but they will also be try- ing to convince two of their top recruit- ing targets from the Los Angeles area to sign with them. Notre Dame is set to bring in Gar- dena (Calif.) Junipero Serra four-star defensive end Wole Betiku and Fontana (Calif.) Summit four-star wide receiver Damian Alloway for official visits that weekend, and if things go as planned, at least one them could eventually end up playing football in South Bend. Betiku — who is ranked by Rivals as the No. 8 recruit in California, and the No. 4 weakside defensive end and No. 36 overall prospect in the nation — will arrive on campus as uncommitted target after backing away from a pledge to UCLA Oct. 23. He said in July at The Opening in Beaverton, Ore., that Notre Dame was a school that he liked for many reasons. "The coaches tell me about the pro- gram, the alumni base, the education and the graduation rate," Betiku said. "They say that's really important and Top L.A.
