MICHIGAN IN THE PROS being reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton at the end of October. • Jacob Trouba (2013), D, Winni- peg Jets: Has played in 19 games and notched one goal with two assists … Stood minus-3 with 22 shots on goal for 8-9-2 Winnipeg. The NFL CHARLES WOODSON PLAYS THROUGH PAIN TO LEAD RAIDERS Former Michigan Heisman Trophy winner Charles Woodson just keeps going. The Oakland Raiders defen- sive back led the NFL in intercep- tions through 10 weeks with five, and he was also named AFC Defen- sive Player of the Month for October. It was the fifth time in his 18-year career that Woodson had earned the monthly award, tying him for second most in NFL history behind six-time winner and Hall of Fame defensive end Bruce Smith. "It makes it special because state- ments are made that, 'He's the old- est to do this' or '[One of] only two or three guys to have done things,"' Woodson told the Associated Press. "To have that type of longevity and to be playing at the level that I'm playing at in the NFL is awesome." That he was doing it while playing with a significant injury made it even more impressive. He dislocated his right shoulder in the season opener versus Cincinnati Sept. 13, but rather than leave he was back on the field almost immediately. Radio sideline reporter and former Raiders tackle Lincoln Kennedy mar- veled at his toughness in the post- game. "I went to him after the game and said, 'C-Dub, what are you doing? You're not 25 anymore. You can't throw your body into people like that,'" Kennedy told The San Jose Mercury News. "He said, 'Big Linc, I only know how to do it one way.' That has stuck in my mind the past several weeks." Woodson played 574 of Oakland's 601 defensive snaps through eight games and was leading all safeties in voting for the Pro Bowl. Former NFL standout Rodney Har- rison, now a studio analyst for NBC, Woodson, an 18-year veteran, was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October and led the NFL in interceptions with five through 10 weeks.
