BASKETBALL RECRUITING pleased with his four-man haul of Teske, center Austin Davis, point guard Xavier Simpson and wing Ibi Watson. "All four of these young men are a great fit for Michigan basketball, both academically and athletically," Beilein said after they signed Nov. 11. "They are hard working and high achieving kids who come from good families and really love the game. "We are excited to see the potential of this class and know they have the capabilities to help us compete and win future Big Ten championships." Teske got the ball rolling when he pledged to the Wolverines over Ohio State on Aug. 7, 2014, which is im- pressive considering that his father grew up an OSU fan. He found him- self to be a perfect fit in the Michi- gan offense, and Beilein and his staff made him feel like a priority. Teske finished the 2014-15 season by earning Associated Press Divi- sion I All-Ohio special mention hon- ors after guiding Medina High to the Division I Region 2 semifinals, while averaging 12.1 points, 9.0 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per game. He helped Medina to a Copley Division I Dis- trict title, posting 27 points, 10 re- bounds and eight blocks in the cham- pionship game, and finished the 2015 postseason averaging 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and 7.2 blocks per game, earning him The Medina Post's Player of the Year honor and The Medina Ga- zette's Most Valuable Player award. "The first thing you notice is Jon's size. However, he is very agile and skilled for a big man," Beilein said. "He can really run the floor and is a defensive presence in the middle. "Jon is a true rim protector with his shot blocking ability. He is an excel- lent shooter as well as a passer. As he gains upper body strength and develops physically, his game will continue to mature, and he will be able to compete and be successful as a Big Ten center."
