and scored a 22 his first time on the
ACT. He's a kid that's just smart and
gets it."
Davis is also one that got what
Notre Dame could do for him.
The 5-11, 188-pound Davis, who
threw for 2,138 yards and ran for an-
other 1,007 while racking up 39 total
touchdowns this past season, took his
first visit to Notre Dame Nov. 14 for
the Wake Forest game.
He returned in mid-March for the
program's second Junior Day of the
cycle to get a second look at the pro-
gram and learn more about the aca-
demics, but it didn't take him long
to realize Notre Dame was where he
wanted to be.
"I felt like Notre Dame was just
the place for me," Davis said. "Coach
Sanford is my guy. I got a chance to
get to really know him throughout
the process, and I really like how he
coaches."
Davis picked the Irish over his
other two finalists: Colorado and
Utah. Rivals' No. 14 dual-threat quar-
terback nationally and No. 50 pros-
pect in Texas also held offers from
Virginia, Texas Tech, Oregon State,
Kansas State, Purdue, Iowa State and
Houston. ✦
