against
Rutgers. This one is against the
No. 4 team in the country. It's probably
the Lions' toughest conference opener
since their 2007 campaign, which also
began in the Big House.
The Wolverines don't make their depth
chart public, but they didn't appear to
have a whole lot of weaknesses in their first
two games, lopsided victories over Hawaii
(63-3) and UCF (51-14). While they had
some first-quarter problems with Col-
orado, it seems safe to assume they'll be
ready for their Big Ten opener.
As for the Lions, unless there are some
miracle cures this week, they will probably
not be anywhere close to full strength on
defense when they take on the Big Ten's
second-highest-scoring offense. Franklin,
in keeping with his custom, declined to
discuss the severity of the injuries, but he
was pleased that his team managed to
overcome them against Temple.
"We found a way to grind it out," he
said. "We got a win against a good foot-
ball team. It's something to build on
going into next week."
Golden was one of
Penn State's top
defensive per-
formers against
Temple. The sen-
ior finished with
nine tackles to
lead the Nittany
Lions.
