■ BASKETBALL RECRUITING tling inside against 7-5 Mamadou Ndiaye of Huntington Beach (Calif.) Brethren Chris- tian, who is also from Senegal. "He wasn't easy, and I just tried to do my best," said Djitte, who had 10 points in the contest. "I didn't want to let in and I used my body and took the contact." Djitte also got to play with West Charlotte High senior center Kennedy Meeks, who has an NC State offer. Meeks was impressed with his camp teammate. "He's good," Meeks said. "I haven't seen A 6-10, 226-pound native of Dakar, Senegal, Sidy Djitte came to North Carolina last Decem- ber to put himself in position to play college basketball. PHOTO BY DAVIDE DEPAS like basketball and I hope to turn pro [one day]. I want to study, and it's easier here to study and play ball." Djitte entered the NBPA Camp as a bit of an unknown, both regionally and nationally. "Most of the players don't know me [at NBPA Camp]," Djitte said. "I'm here not just to play, but to learn and gain experiences. I've come to play the best in the country and see where I am." Among Djitte's camp experiences was bat- many like that. I had seen him with the Up- ward Stars, and he was doing all right. He's a good teammate, and he really wants to win and has the drive to win. "He's real funny, and his accent takes over some times. He's just real cool." Senior Guard Donte Clark Takes Unofficial Visit To NC State Charlotte, N.C., senior wing standout Donte Clark made an unofficial visit to NC State on June 22, his first to the campus, and came away impressed. The 6-4, 180-pound Clark has been one of the fast risers this spring with the Georgia Stars. Rivals.com ranks him No. 95 in the country in the class of 2013, and he was able to catch the eye of NC State head coach Mark Gottfried during the first two sessions of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) schedule. "The visit went pretty good, and the cam- pus is pretty big," Clark said. "I went to the PNC Arena and visited that. It was a lot of fun. "The coaches were basically saying they want me at the school. They'll be watching me in July. They said where I am at, they will be. We'll see where it goes from there." Clark has played both guard positions for Georgia Stars, and is averaging 9.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game in 19 con- tests. He is shooting 28.6 percent (14 of 49) from three-point land. He poured in 30 points and hit four three-pointers against host team Howard Pulley on April 20 in Minneapolis in the Georgia Stars' Nike EYBL opener. "The EYBL has done a lot for my recruit- ment," Clark said. July will be a busy month for Clark. The Georgia Stars are expected to play at Big Shots in Myrtle Beach, S.C., then at a Nike event in Augusta, Ga., and both Super Show- case and AAU Nationals at Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., to close out the evalu- ation period. The squad also features senior power forward Jarquez Smith, junior wing Jalen Lindsey and junior guard Tadric Jack- son, who all claim offers from the Wolfpack.
