FAN FORUM A lot of emphasis has been focused on what we have lost: Aaron Lynch, Tee Shepard, as well as those we never had: De- ontay Greenberry, Ronald Darby et al. Not enough has been said about some quiet, strong recruiting done by this staff: (Troy Niklas, George and Josh Atkinson, Anthony Rabasa, Chase Hounshell, Kona Schwenke … ). The team, we believe, is much better. FOR BETTER OR WORSE stronger also. Replacing USF, Maryland and Air Force with Oklahoma (10 wins), BYU (10 wins) and a resurgent Miami Hurricanes program under rising star Al Golden did us no favors. Add in USC (10 wins), Stanford (11 wins), Sparty (11 wins) and Michigan (11 wins), and you have a brutal, near impossible table to run. So the team should be much better (if you as- sume we fix the turnover epidemic), but the record may not improve much. Of course, this year's schedule is much He was very understanding and he said that if my heart and head were not in it I should just leave because Vietnam was not for everyone. He thanked me for my time there and for being a good soldier and wished me luck. I often wonder if I had stayed to help my buddies maybe some of them might have made it home. Oh well, I just missed Cali- fornia. Frank Galluppi Glendora, Calif. there until spring practice. I do realize that 11 SATELLITE SOLUTION? Would satellite schools built in the heavily re- cruited states be a possi- ble solution to the prob- lem of location that faces Notre Dame football? Here's how it would work: the student-athlete comes to the main cam- pus at the university, and when the season ends he goes back to the satellite school (at a warm, beau- tiful location), which is governed by Notre Dame faculty and stays
