LaMonte, Weis' agent, negoti- ated a 10-year contract extension for Weis through 2015 after a 5-2 start, "highlighted" by the epic 34- 31 loss to No. 1 USC. According to a May 15 report by the Chicago Tri- bune's Brian Hamilton, it is the deal that keeps giving. On Notre Dame's Form 990 that it must submit to the Internal Revenue Service and was made available to the Tribune upon request, here were some revelations: • Weis received $2,054,744 of buyout money from Notre Dame from July 2010 through June 2011 and received an initial payment of $6,638,403 after his Nov. 30, 2009 firing. • He also received $469,727 Bob LaMonte has proven to be from Play by Play Sports (now known as Notre Dame Sports Properties), plus $1,095 of "other reportable compensation." • Current head coach Brian Kelly earned a total of $2,424,301 and a one-time $1,762,334 of "other re- portable compensation" (speculated to be money owed by Kelly to Cincinnati for leaving the Bearcats to join the Irish). Kel- ly's base compensation is listed as $617,846. • Men's basketball coach Mike Brey to- taled $1,311,843 plus $695,000 from Play Going on three years after his ouster, former Notre Dame head football coach Charlie Weis, who is embarking on his first season at Kansas, continues to receive paychecks from South Bend.
